Crime After Katrina
spacebar

The release of a month-long investigation by two federal agencies uncovered that FEMA wasted and was defrauded of hundreds of millions of dollars in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The report detailed that nearly half of the 2.5 million applicants who received federal aid after Katrina made fraudulent claims. Others reportedly used the funds to pay for gambling, pornographic movies, tattoos, and even a diamond ring.

The lack of moral character and personal responsibility is what has put many of the evacuees in the dire situation they’re in—not the lack of city, state or federal effort or money. Many question the wisdom of borrowing billions of dollars for federal agencies to rebuild a city that lies below sea level and whose inhabitants have historically relied on government aid.

Moral poverty is the problem in New Orleans—as well as the rest of our world!  The character of people has to change or we will all continue in our sin and crime-ridden societies.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Psalm 96:2,3 NIV
