James Dobson says Sen. Obama is distorting biblical
teachings to fit "his own confused theology."

On a recent radio program, Dr. James Dobson* analyzed a June 2006 speech by Senator Barack Obama, entitled "Call to Renewal". In it, the Democratic candidate for president spoke demeaningly of Dr. Dobson and declared that America is "no longer just a Christian nation. We are a Muslim nation. We are a Hindu nation. We are a Buddhist nation."

Vision America Action President Rick Scarborough replied: "According to opinion surveys, 76% of the American people are Christians. The number of Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus are statistically insignificant. As a percentage of the population, America is more Christian than Israel is Jewish. It's more Christian than India is Hindu.”

The senator from Chicago asserted that Christians can only argue for a political position if it can be defended in other than “religion-specific values.” In other words, only secular worldviews and political arguments are valid--in Senator Obama’s view for America.
